Yoga Therapy: An Integrated Approach To Healing

By Robert Mazure April 25, 2024

Yoga therapy is delivered by Naturopathic doctors and Yoga Therapists throughout Nature Cure hospitals in India. Alongside other holistic treatments such as acupuncture, hydrotherapy, massage, fasting and other cleansing techniques, and nutritional therapy, it plays an integral role in the practice of holistic healthcare.

The therapeutic effects of Yoga on different health conditions have been extensively researched in India. A research paper published in the British Medical Journal back in 1985 illustrated the benefits of Yoga for bronchial asthma. This study revealed that Yoga practice was more effective than using bronchodilators. Since then the number of clinical research papers demonstrating the use of therapeutic use of Yoga has become voluminous.

Yoga therapy is commonly used to alleviate symptoms associated with the Metabolic Syndrome including high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, weight gain, and type II diabetes. These are often the result of lifestyle excesses. These conditions may be considered psychosomatic, which is where Yoga plays its part. Yoga not only strengthens the body but it also nourishes the mind.

Nature Cure hospitals also deliver Yoga modules for digestion (IBS), reproduction (PMT), respiratory conditions such as asthma and lots more. The stretches twists and bends of Yoga stimulate blood supply to abdominal organs, delivering nutrients and collecting and eliminating metabolic waste products.

Yoga can also be considered a kind of ‘self-massage’ making it an effective solution to lower back pain. According to Nuffield Health 36% of people surveyed experience debilitating lower back pain while studies by NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence), reveal that up to 60% of people experience low back pain at some point.

The major causes of lower back pain include sedentary lifestyle, poor posture and stress. Yoga unlocks muscular tension and accelerates recovery from musculoskeletal pain. As such, Yoga modules for lower back pain have been followed by hundreds of thousands of patients in India, with great success.

At Nature Heal we have this precise module available at only £9.99. Our team spent 15 months learning the craft in India including 8 months in Nature Cure hospitals culminating in the production of our 70 minute documentary, Nature Cure: The Revival. We also produced a 2 minute trailer. For more information or questions please reach out to us on our contact page.
